Artist CV

Kumiko Delaney is an emerging artist living and working on unceded Gadigal land (‘Sydney’ , Australia). Majoring in sculpture and painting in her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the University of New South Wales, she is interested in continually finding new methods of combination in materials and concepts.

Throughout her practice, Kumiko's works mainly with themes relating to the body and mind as well as the relationship between her Japanese culture, sexuality with particular interest in the beauty of the mundane.

Her work has been recently highly commended and described as having a ‘...humorous and playful treatment to her subject matters’ as well as having a ‘...sophisticated combination of form and content. Deftly using ceramic materials and processes in its creation, her works can be provocative or vulnerable yet gentle in its approach.
